あらすじ
警察官連続射殺事件が発生。
その犯人の標的の1人とされ、命にかかわる重傷を負ってしまった佐藤刑事。
そしてその犯行現場にいた毛利蘭は、ショックのあまり記憶を失ってしまう。
犯人の顔を見たかもしれない毛利蘭を、執拗に狙う犯人…。
その魔の手から江戸川コナンは、「工藤新一」全開で毛利蘭を守り、攻めることを決意する！

これまでの作品と比較したら、大きな爆発が連続で起こるわけでもなく、怪盗が出るわけでもなく、ゲストキャラが多数出るわけでもない、表向きは「特別感」の無さが目立った作品であった。
しかし、「コナンのはじまりの地」とも言えるトロピカルランドで犯人の狙撃から蘭を守り続けるコナンの勇姿は、記憶喪失中の蘭を前にしてだからこそできた、まさに「工藤新一」全開の姿であった。
また、要所でトロピカルランドを舞台にするため、新一がコナンの姿になる数時間前、新一と蘭がどんなデートをしていたのかを垣間見ることができる。
令和になってのみどころ
- 過去3作と比較して最も作画が上手い作品。
- クライマックスでは、犯人の顔が変わり過ぎていて…もはや顔芸である。
- 高木刑事がメンタル弱くて、良い刑事ということが分かる。
